Built around the railroad, the town of Eupora was given its name by the engineers laying out the route for the railroad. Eupora Eudy and her husband ran the boarding house where the engineers stayed and they were so struck by the euphony of her name that they declared the town should be named Eupora. The settlement was incorporated in 1889. From its humble beginnings Eupora has grown to a city of 2265 and growing.
