Capital / River
Capital/River Region Description - Visits to this region offer a glimpse of Old South grandeur, while Civil War re-enactments recall the heartache of a nation torn apart. This region is also known as the Black Prairie because of the rich, dark soil.
Coastal Region Description - Beaches, marshes, bayous and thick timber provide a variety of environments for recreationists. The historic districts of Hattiesburg and Laurel showcase exquisite Victorian and turn-of-the-century mansions originally built by lumber barons.
Delta Region Description - Before the casinos sprang up out of the cotton fields, the Delta was famous as the birthplace of the blues. Today visitors can take in a performance at a real Delta blues juke joint.
Hill Region Description - This region offers a history, centers of southern culture, and the Appalachian foothills, unique in Mississippi landscapes.
Pines Region Description- This region is filled with rolling hills and covered with hardwoods and pines. The Pines Region spans country stores, sacred Native American homelands and historic towns.
